Tanush Kotian may have a giant accountability as he’ll change Ashwin within the Indian squad if he will get the call-up.
Tanush Kotian could receive the opportunity of a lifetime, as he may get a call-up for the India vs Australia 4th Test match, starting on December 26 as the Boxing Day Test. Reports suggest that the spin all-rounder will be added to the team for the upcoming matches.
Tanush Kotian to replace R Ashwin?
According to Sportstar, Kotian could replace India’s legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who announced a mid-series retirement after the IND vs AUS 3rd Test match at Gabba, which ended in a no-result due to rain.
Who is Tanush Kotian?
Kotian, an off-spinner who bats right-handed, was part of the Mumbai Vijay Hazare Trophy squad in Ahmedabad. The 26-year-old’s move to Australia comes after R. Ashwin’s retirement following the IND vs AUS 3rd Test at the Gabba last week. Kotian has established himself as one of the top off-spin all-rounders in Indian domestic cricket. He was also a member of the India A team that toured Australia before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
Ravindran Ashwin’s retirement
Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement decision on Wednesday stunned the cricket world. However, it may have been his omission from the playing XI and India’s decision to rotate spinners in the first three Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) that led him to decide it was time to end his international career.
