A second rain delay in Gabba has compelled each groups to take an early Lunch on Day 1 of IND vs AUS third Check
The rain is back for the second time in the first session of the IND vs AUS 3rd Test Day 1. After the first rain delay, the Indian bowlers were just able to find their rhythm again, before the heavens opened up again. Former India star Sunil Gavaskar was happy with the bowlers having adjusted to the ground conditions after the initial hiccup.
In the initial phase of the bowling, both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj went on to bowl a tad shorter of length. Sunil Gavaskar and Aaron Finch conversed amongst themselves claiming that India needs to bowl fuller to the Australian openers.
What India needs to get wickets?
The duo explained that there is no point in bowling short at the Gabba where batters can easily hit shots for boundaries with relative ease. However, after the first break in the play, India recovered. Akash Deep too got his chance and the Indian pacers started to tease the Aussie batters.
“You need to make the Australian batters work here. The batters obviously take guard here in the off stump and you need to force them to play out. Get them to play covers and drives and make them work to get their wickets,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
After bowling for 13 overs, India is yet to find their maiden breakthrough. The bowlers are now hungry enough to get the wicket. And with the rain falling heavily, an early lunch has been taken. It will now be a good opportunity for India to once again assess their conditions and devise a strategy to come back strong and get a quick couple of wickets.
